coe-staff: Screening of documentary film "13th"

To whom it may concern,

The ASUO Men's Center is going to be hosting a screening of Ava DuVernay's documentary film, the "13th". This film delves into the white supremacist history of this country's prison-industrial complex and mass incarceration; as well as it's origins to slavery from the 1800s.

The Men's Center is collaborating with Black Student Leadership groups on our campus to put on this event. After the screening, there will be breakout sessions to discuss and debrief the film.

We want to reach as large as an audience as possible. We are hoping to have your assistance in doing so. If you could spread our event through your channels, we would be incredibly grateful. This is a message that we believe is imperative that our students hear; especially in our coming times.

The event is this Thursday, January 26th @ 6 p.m. It will be in Straub 156. The film will start promptly at 6:20 pm. The discussions will follow after a short break at the end of the film. There will therapists of multiple identities present during and after the film to offer emotional support in the form of group support and individual support.
