Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.
- Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dear College of Education Community:
It is with increased fortitude that College of Education students, staff and faculty work as members of the UO DREAMERS committee to promote best practices in programs, funding, outreach, and policy to better serve undocumented students at the UO.
The DREAMERS committee, along with many other campus groups, is working hard on several initiatives and activities this year that we can anticipate and support: (1) a website with resources, information, and supports, (2) a campaign to educate the campus about how to support undocumented students and those of mixed status families, disseminated via 1 hour presentations, (3) a spring symposium, and (4) an intensive one-day ally training next fall.
College of Education Faculty Members of the DREAMER's Education and Training SubCommittee include Ellen McWhirter, Audrey Lucero, and Ilana Umansky.
We thank our colleagues for their service, and we encourage our College of Education community to reach out to Rosa Chavez-Jacuinde or Ellen McWhirter for more information.
Thank you,
Krista
