coe-staff: I hope to see you tomorrow, Friday

This message was sent out this morning to all students in COE. It was meant also to go to faculty and staff.

Dear Students,



Our college shares the same commitments expressed by President Schill, Provost Coltrane, and the entire administrative team at the University of Oregon.  We too will call out any efforts to divide us based upon the color of our skin, our nationality, our immigration status, our abilities, our diversity of thought, our gender, or our sexual orientation.



We are committed to taking concrete actions to continuously improve our efforts to create an inclusive, pluralistic, equitable, and welcoming environment where everyone can thrive and contribute to the common good: students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and research, instructional, and service community and university partners.



We will be building on to and accelerating the work that I announced last year https://education.uoregon.edu/office-dean/inclusion-equity-and-diversity-coe to provide all of our students with an exceptional educational experience - an experience where everyone is encouraged to challenge established ideas and offer novel approaches.



Let's talk about these plans and your ideas for how the college will do better.  Please consider stopping by tomorrow Friday, November 18th in Suite 130, between 9:30 and 11:00 am (one on one, small groups, pairs - the format of your choosing) for some breakfast pastries to chat with me about whatever is on your mind.
