To COE Faculty and Staff,
Please see below for an updated version of the Pro-Tem policy announcement, corrected to include Jo Larson as a member of the Policy Committee.
The following message is being sent on behalf of Dean Randy Kamphaus.
To COE Faculty and Staff,
I am very pleased to announce that the NTTF Professional Responsibilities Policy has been approved by the Provost and is currently posted for your use on the COE Governance site at https://coedocs.uoregon.edu/display/governance/Assignment+of+Professional+Responsibilities
My thanks to Committee members Tiffany Brown, Mark Van Ryzin, Susan Boettcher, Alison Schmitke, Chris Murray, Jo Larson, and Deborah Olson who worked to bring this work to completion within the Provost's established timeline. The policy is effective immediately, providing guidance on the assignment of professional responsibilities specific to CNTTF and Pro-Tem NTTF, and on the transparent allocation of FTE amid a variety of complex variables.
Please note that the policy makes reference to an FTE calculator that assists department heads in the determination of workload according to the different types of activities that a CNTTF or Pro-Tem NTTF may perform. In reviewing this section, note the role of the calculator is to provide a starting point to inform FTE decisions. It is not intended to be the sole source or serve as a binding result that dictates workload decisions.
As always, Pro-Tem NTTF who have concerns about FTE decisions, or about decisions made using this policy, should consult with their Department Head. After consultation with the department head, a faculty member may also contact the Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development for additional consultation.
Regards,
Randy
