Hello,

The College of Education, in collaboration with the School of Journalism, is hosting an event in Portland on April 14 at 6:00 pm to address issues surrounding how education is portrayed in the media and possible strategies to create a more positive dialogue between teachers, students and the media. Dale Russakoff, author of the New York Times bestseller, The Prize: Who’s in Charge of America’s Schools<http://www.amazon.com/The-Prize-Charge-Americas-Schools/dp/0547840055>, will deliver the opening keynote. The book is a journalistic account of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s troubled $100 million attempt to turn around Newark, N.J. schools. After her presentation there will be panel discussions featuring local educators, members of the media and students. Click here to RSVP for the event.<https://www.eventbrite.com/e/teaching-reclaiming-the-craft-tickets-22187220574>

Please share with any educators who you think might be interested in the topic, especially those residing in the Portland area. More information is available here<https://education.uoregon.edu/news/teaching-reclaiming-craft-brings-educators-leaders-pdx-april-14>.
