The Educational Methodology, Policy and Leadership (EMPL) department is pleased to offer the following Spring 2016 courses for your consideration. Please forward to students you think will benefit from these classes.
EDLD 610 Cultural Adaptation of Evidence-Based Practices - Wednesdays, 4:00-7:50pm, 4 credits taught by Charles Martinez

This course will provide an advanced foundation in models and methods for the cultural adaptation of evidenced-based prevention, and treatment practices in school, community, and family settings



Additionally, will provide students with a framework to contextualize the tension between program fidelity and community contextual fit when implementing evidence-based programs in diverse settings and to apply various models of cultural adaptation in developing, refining, and disseminating empirically supported intervention programs. Prerequisite: Students are expected to have had prior coursework in diversity in education and human services, and to have applied experience in evidence-based prevention programs designed to support the healthy adjustment of children in schools, families, and/or community settings


EDLD 610 Mixed Methods Research - Tuesdays, 10:00am-1:50pm, 4 credits taught by Jo Smith

This course offers a blend of theory on mixed methods research designs and practical application. This class is a perfect opportunity to shape a mixed methods grant proposal, work on your mixed methods dissertation proposal, or refine an idea for a mixed methods study design.
