coe-staff: position introduction - Asst Dean for Equity and Inclusion

Dear Faculty & Staff,

It is my pleasure to serve as Assistant Dean for Equity and Inclusion for the College of Education. The purpose of this position is to support the intellectual and civic excellence of our students, faculty, and staff by helping to establish equitable and inclusive practices across our instructional, training, service, and research activities.

As Randy shared in his email last week, my focus this year will be to connect our students, staff, and faculty with University and community resources, serve as a consultant to academic and research units, and support underrepresented student, staff, and faculty engagement and retention. I am dedicating .40 FTE to this new administrative role and continuing at .60 FTE with my faculty appointment in counseling psychology. I will try to be as available as possible while maintaining my teaching, research, and advising responsibilities. It is my pleasure to share the work of this position with Surendra Subramani and Rod Salgado, the Student Diversity Affairs Committee GTF and a school psychology graduate student.


Examples of how I may be of service to individual faculty, staff, and students as well as programs and departments, include consulting on:



*         Faculty and staff hiring practices

*         Curriculum content and instruction

*         Student training, evaluation, and advising/mentoring

*         Student admission criteria & interview and selection processes

*         Faculty, staff, and student evaluation criteria and procedures
