My apologies to all-there was a typo in my earlier message. Terms on the COE CC are three years, not two as my email stated.

Subject: coe-staff: College-Wide Committee Openings for 2015-2016
Dear COE Faculty and Staff:
A number of committee openings have been identified for the upcoming academic year, and we are now gathering nominations for each of these roles. Your nomination or self-nomination should be submitted to your department head or unit director so they can present them to the relevant committee chair or designee (identified below) on behalf of the unit.
COE Faculty Personnel Committee (FPC): a term on the FPC lasts for two academic years, and includes participation in Promotion & Tenure cases as well as third-year and post-tenure reviews. P&T reviews will take place in fall term, with other kinds of reviews taking place in winter and spring. These positions are open to any tenured faculty member at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
-One open seat from Educational Methodology, Policy and Leadership
-Two open seats from Education Studies
-One open seat from Counseling Psychology and Human Services
COE Curriculum Committee (CC): a term on the CC lasts for two academic years, and includes participation in initial review of all course change requests and new program proposals, making recommendation for revision or forwarding those to the general instructional faculty for review and voting. The CC routinely meets three or more times per year based on the needs of each submission cycle. Any career faculty member with a primarily instructional appointment is eligible to participate on the CC.
-One open seat for a tenure-track faculty member in Counseling Psychology and Human Services
-One open seat for a non-tenure track faculty member in Education Studies
COE Awards Committee: a term on the awards committee lasts for two academic years, and includes participation in review of nominations for a broad range of award categories. Typically, this group meets no more than twice between winter and spring terms. In order to guarantee representation across areas, preference will be given to nominations from EMPL and EDST for these open positions).
-One open seat for an Officer of Administration
-One open seat for a faculty member (TTF or NTTF)
-One open seat for a classified staff member
Ad Hoc Committee on EDUC 610 Development: the current course EDST 670: Philosophy of Research is a college-wide course that never completed formal review and approval as an EDUC series course. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs is convening a faculty group to develop content for an ongoing EDUC course that will serve as a required introduction to research in education for our doctoral students, to submit through COE CC and UOCC processes during the 2015-2016 academic year so it can be offered beginning Fall 2016. This work group will comprise instructional faculty from doctoral programs across the college, as well as faculty with experience teaching in the EDUC series, developing content and structure for this course throughout the academic year as needed. There is currently no set limit on number of participants in this process. As with the other opportunities above, please submit nominations or self-nominations to your department head or unit director for consideration.
Please contact me directly if you have questions about any of these openings.
Regards,
Shaun Haskins
