coe-staff: Senate Meeting March 11

Hi Colleagues - Here are my notes from the last Senate meeting. The motions can be found here on the Senate website: http://senate.uoregon.edu/content/senate-meeting-agenda-march-11-2015 .  The motions that were introduced under suspension of rules are not on the agenda, but I tried to describe them.

Several motions involved athletics, for example, having faculty representation on the special admissions committee that consider athletes who do not meet UO academic standards. A report given at the end of the meeting by the UO representative to the Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics was chock full of information about injury rates, spending, and other important issues that I'd recommend you look at the full report on the senate website.

The Senate will be meeting almost weekly this term to catch up with the policies being addressed in the transition process from OUS to a Board of Trustees model.  I may end up combining notes of several meetings to save time.
