Hello,
If you haven't heard about it already, I'd like to let you know about the 2015 Governor's State Employees Food Drive happening through the month of February. I hope you will join the COE in supporting Food for Lane County (FFLC) to help those in need in our community. FFLC not only supports Lane County residents, but also provides groceries to the Eugene Student Food Bank for UO, LCC and NCU students.
There are several ways to contribute:
* Purchase a bag of Euphoria Chocolate hearts (milk or dark chocolate - Valentine's Day is coming!) for $4 ($2 of each purchase goes to FFLC). These chocolates typically retail for at least $4.75, so this is also a savings for you. Studies say dark chocolate is good for your health, but really - CHOCOLATE!!! Lisa Fortin (HEDCO 130), Jennifer McGovney (102 Lokey ED), Marty Hurst (H140 Lokey) and Richelle Chambers Krotts (124 Lokey ED) are selling chocolate, so stop by to pick up several packages today!
* Donate money (even just your loose change!) to the FFLC jars you see around the COE. Food for Lane County has better purchase power than we do as individuals, so cash is a big help. Each $1 donated provides access to 3 meals.
* Bring in nutritious, non-perishable food items to donate in one of our 4 collection barrels. They are located in the HEDCO lobby (by the coffee shop), Lokey ED Suite 120, EMPL Lobby and H140 Lokey-Educational and Community Supports.
* Make a tax-deductible donation in any amount with cash, payroll deduction, or check made out to Food for Lane County. (To explore these options, visit Lisa, Jennifer, Marty or Richelle and they can talk you through them and provide tax receipts.)
* Meet the Governor's Challenge by donating $144, through a one-time cash donation or a one-time or recurring payroll deduction. Donating $12 per month provides approximately 430 meals throughout the year!
* Participate in any of the soon to be announced fundraising activities to come. (If you have great ideas that have worked in the past, please let me know. Ideas discussed at our meeting included cook-offs, raffles, silent auctions, lunch/soup/bake sales, etc.)
There could be a bit of competition going on between COE departments to try and collect as much money and food as we can before the end of February. I hope you will consider participating! Please let me know if I or any of the other department coordinators can answer any questions.
Thanks,
>From Your Governor's Food Drive Coordinators!
