coe-staff: January 14 Senate Meeting notes

Hi Colleagues - I hope you are enjoying this beautiful sunny day.  Attached please find my notes from last Wednesday's Senate meeting.  It wasn't terrible exciting, but it was lovely not to be dealing with another crisis.  We actually got work done.  We are now dealing with the policies given to us by the administration for review - this is part of the process of changing from OUS to an independent board of trustees.  Senate President Kyr does a good job of explaining the process which I summarized. We passed 2 pieces of legislation recommending deletion or adoption of dozens of OUS policies regarding student and faculty records.  A lot remains to be done and we'll be having additional Senate meetings this term (warning: you can delete them when you see the email heading!).  We also passed a resolution asking the UO Foundation to divest itself from fossil fuel investments. There was some nice Q & A with President Coltrane as well.
