To the COE Community:
Behavioral Research and Teaching (BRT) and the Office for Research, Innovation and Graduate Education (RIGE) would like to announce a colloquium by Dr. Russell Almond: "An Introduction to Evidence Centered Assessment Design." The colloquium will be held in 146 HEDCO on Tuesday, May 13, from 12:00pm – 1:30pm. Please see the attached announcement.
Evidence Centered Design (ECD) is an approach to constructing assessments in terms of evidentiary arguments and supports a broad range of assessment types, including standardized tests, classroom quizzes, coached practice systems, portfolios, and student-tutor interaction. In 2000, ECD won the National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME) Award for Outstanding Scientific or Technical Contribution to Educational Measurement.
Dr. Almond is one of the developers of ECD. He is a statistician with extensive training and interest in artificial intelligence, and a leader in the use of and research on Bayesian networks in assessment (http://ralmond.net). His research interests include the use of artificial intelligence in data analysis, Bayesian computation, and statistical model engineering.
