The department of Educational Methodology, Policy and Leadership (EMPL) is pleased to announce the following colloquium presentation by a candidate for their open rank, tenure-related position. The presentation is happening this Thursday, March 13; faculty and students are highly encouraged to attend, and any efforts to help us spread the word about this short-notice event would be most welcome (flyer attached).

Dr. Katrina Bulkley is Professor of Educational Leadership at Montclair State University. Her research examines the intersection of policy and leadership in efforts to increase market-linked ideas in education and enhance accountability and data-driven change. Recent projects include "Between Public and Private: Politics, Governance, and the New Portfolio Models for Urban School Reform" (Bulkley, Henig, and Levin, Harvard Education Press) and "Benchmarks for Success? Interim Assessments as a Strategy for Educational Improvement" (Bulkley, Nabors-Olah, and Blanc, Peabody Journal of Education). Her work has also been published in journals including Educational Policy, Educational Administration Quarterly, Education Policy Analysis Archives, Education and Urban Society and Phi Delta Kappan. Her research has been supported by the Spencer Foundation, the National Science Foundation, and the U.S. Department of Education, among others. Bulkley received a B.A. with Honors in Government from Wesleyan University, an M.A. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Ph.D. in Administration and Policy Analysis from the Stanford University School of Education.
