coe-staff: Additional Info on Alumni Awards

Hello,
I've received a few questions as to what is actually needed in order to nominate an alumni for an award. All we do at this stage is ask for the nominee and nominator's personal information and then a statement about why that person should receive the award. If the statement is strong enough I would probably follow up to get additional documentation from other folks that know them and so forth if necessary.

For each award we have a suggested set of questions to start the process. The questions are below (and included on the application form), but again, they aren't mandatory, but merely suggestions and the nominator could reply in other ways. Please submit a nomination (or more than one!) this week-We have many great alumni and this is our chance to recognize them!

For the Horizon Alumni Award
* How has the nominee excelled early in life and shown potential for continued success?
* Has the nominee received recognition as an emerging leader through professional and/or community achievements?
* Has the nominee attained increasingly responsible positions within their organization, business, or field of work?

For the Distinguished Alumni Award
* Has the nominee received recognition for significant professional contributions, discoveries, or creative work through honors, awards, and/or media attention?
* Has the nominee received recognition through professional and/or community achievements?
* Has the nominee had any significant personal achievements?

For the Outstanding Alumni Award
* How has the nominee contributed to policy and practice in education?
* Has the nominee demonstrated research or scholarship that improved understanding of learning?
* Describe the breadth of the nominee's work and education background.
* What are the nominee's most significant contributions to education, communities, and the lives of children and their families?

Let me know if you have any questions,
Lisa
