To register, you must contact School of Law registrar Sherie Etges, at
346-1560, setges at uoregon.edu to obtain the necessary "Law for Nonlaw" forms
and to be enrolled.  

 

. Combined course open to law students and all UO doctoral students 

 

. Provides students with knowledge of current case law and legislation,
sensitivity to legal issues and application of legal principles related to
disability law 

 

. Gain an understanding of the historical and social shifts in the
construction of disability

 

. Gain a broad understanding of the types of barriers to access and the
nondiscrimination laws that impact the lives of persons with disabilities
across the lifespan 

 

Topics will include:

 

. K-12 and higher education

. Architectural barrier removal

. Employment nondiscrimination 

. Access to government programs, services and activities 

. Access to private business goods, services, accommodations, 

. Fair housing and independent living

. Mediation

 

This is a law school course which is taught on the semester system. It runs
14 weeks: Jan. 16-Apr 24. This means nonlaw students will receive an
"Incomplete" for a grade at the end of winter term and receive their grade
after final exams end in mid-May. Spring break is the same time.
