served)

Rungsun Wiboonuppatum, Ph.D. received his doctoral degree in
International/Intercultural Development Education from Florida State
University in 2002. Prior to joining UNICEF, he was with Thailand Ministry
of Education in their Bureau of Information and Communication Technology as
an Educational Technology Specialist. In this presentation, Dr.
Wiboonuppatum will provide real case examples of education provision at the
ground level which UNICEF has been working in remote and rural areas of
Thailand in the past two decades. Two cases of most challenging education
modalities in remote provinces in Thailand are shared to raise concerns and
to enhance proper context comprehension. The cases will shed light on how
complexity of education provision must be taken care of while challenging
of 21st century encourages the country to care about economic, political,
and social development. This presentation will try to answer critical
questions; 1) how quality and equity of basic education for sustainable
future can be done?, 2) what are the remaining challenges for all policy
makers, educators, teachers, parents, and all practitioners including
concerned people in Thailand? And 3) how has the basic education created
sustainable future in different contexts in Thailand?
