SUBJECT: Emergency Electrical Construction Activity Notice

>From 7:00pm to 9:00pm Wednesday, February 27th, Campus Operations and a contractor will install and test on spare and non-building related electrical feeders an operational program modification in the switch house. The modification is to remove the operation which automatic closes campus electrical feeder breakers after they are tripped by a fault on campus.

We do not anticipate any disruption to campus but feel it prudent to inform Campus any time there is a remote chance that our work may cause a momentary disruption. If there were to be any disruption, it would be a momentary outage while the system re-sets and backup power comes on line.

We apologize for such short notice, however need to ensure that another extensive outage associated with campus electrical feeders is avoided. While not the cause of the initial January 7th incident, removal of the automatic feature at the switch house will ensure any main electrical situation that may happen is not compounded. Final testing of building feeders will be coordinated to minimize impacts to campus, and allow for appropriate notification.

Although not required, we recommend all non-ups sensitive electronics, including computers and printers, are turned off or disconnected prior to this event. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we complete this emergency modification.

Please forward to all your building occupants or staff in your department. For questions please contact Campus Operations at electric at uoregon.edu<mailto:electric at uoregon.edu> or call Jeff Madsen, 6-2256.
