Family Interventionist

Position Information

The University of Oregon Child and Family Center (CFC) invites 
applications for a part time (.25 - .75) Family Interventionist (FI) 
position.  The FI will be trained on the Oregon Parent Project, a 
randomized control study designed to measure the outcomes of an 
intervention designed for parents of preschoolers with a developmental 
delay.  This project utilizes an adaption of the Incredible Year Parent 
Training model that has been modified for this population. This 
intervention is designed to be co-facilitated in a group setting.

Duties/Responsibilities

Implements all aspects of the intervention, contacts families, conducts 
interviews, and creates and delivers feedback sessions which are based 
upon assessment data and coded observational video tasks.  
Co-facilitates weekly parent groups; supports individual parent needs to 
ensure group attendance; provides annual in-home video feedback booster 
sessions; coordinates parent groups in collaboration with team members; 
monitors group data collection for standardization and accuracy on a 
regular basis; organizes and communicates recent decisions and reminders 
to update staff on all intervention issues; maintains open communication 
with team members and project Principal Investigator (PI); works 
collaboratively with team members to accomplish goals; reports to 
Principal Investigator with all details relating to the intervention 
process, and receives ongoing supervision from the Principal 
Investigation regarding all aspects of intervention implementation.

Trains and supervises: Attends staff meetings and participates in 
regular clinical supervision meetings.  Participates in training and 
discussions/decision making regarding the most effective implementation 
of the models and ensures compliance with the intervention model and 
expectations of providing intervention to at-risk populations.

Maintains documentation: Oversees organization of fidelity documents 
and ensures accuracy of intervention materials and protocols.  Uses 
Access database and Excel files to track subjects and participation.  
Responsible for maintaining computerized treatment records and other 
case notes as appropriate.

Coordinates Services: Provides educational and resource information as 
needed. Advocates on behalf of project participants at their request.

Maintain research integrity:  Meets with PI to update project progress 
and troubleshoot potential problems.  Maintains familiarity with 
professional code of ethics for psychologists.  Works closely with 
project PIs and licensed psychologists.  Abides by all UO Human Subject 
Protocols, Data Safety Monitoring Plans, and current National Institute 
of Health human subject guidelines.

Other: Responsible for other project related tasks as required or 
requested.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a master's degree (research assistant), or a 
Ph.D. (research associate), in psychology, education, counseling, or 
related field.  Applicants must have experience with behaviorally-based 
interventions, family- centered interventions with at-risk families, and 
collaborating with a variety of disciplines and social service agencies. 
Applicants must have experience working with children (early childhood 
through adolescence) and possess knowledge of child development.  
Applicants must have experience with intervention research.  Applicants 
must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and 
public presentation skills.  Applicant must have experiences interacting 
with families, home environments, and parents.  Applicants must have a 
demonstrated ability to provide positive parenting feedback in an 
appropriate, clinically informed manner.  Applicants must be able to 
work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.  Applicants must 
have demonstrated effectiveness as a team member.

Preferred Qualifications, in addition to the minimum qualifications, 
include experience with: 1) randomized controlled trial research 
methodology, 2) parent training/education interventions, 3) children 
with, or at-risk for, disabilities, 4) working with individuals from 
diverse backgrounds, and 5) fluency in Spanish.

Salary:  $42,000-$55,000 (1.0 FTE) annually, based on qualifications 
and experience.  There is a possibility that the FTE may increase in the 
future depending on need, funding, and performance.  This position is 
funded by federal grants and is contingent upon continued funding.
