Understanding Transitioning with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury
Presented By Dean Ehly, LCSW, Iraq and Afghanistan Veteran Program Manager at the Oregon Department of Veterans Affairs
Friday, November 16, from 12-2pm in Lillis 175
Those who attend this presentation will learn about PTSD and TBI and how these conditions may affect our military personnel who are returning to college. Attendees will also consider how they can more effectively serve and support student veterans in our classrooms and offices. This workshop will be useful for both staff and faculty members.
* Attendees will learn the diagnostic criteria of PTSD with special focus on Combat Veteran PTSD and how it is different than civilian trauma.
* Attendees will learn about other injuries and illness such as traumatic brain injury that veterans incur at war.
* Attendees will gain a more complete understanding of this issues of transitioning with PTSD and TBI through viewing of selected video clips.
* Attendees will discuss strategies for effectively facilitating classroom dialogue pertaining to war and veterans.
