Subject: New Pricing Structure for Coffee Outlets

Greetings everybody,

I am writing to introduce to you a new pricing structure that will take effect at the EMU Coffee Outlets in your building for fall 2012. Would you be kind enough to distribute this email to your building staff and faculty?

As you know, fall term normally brings an increase in price for nearly all the goods sold at your neighborhood Coffee Outlet, this fall will be slightly different.

Many of you may be familiar with the 50 for 5,000 program that was piloted in the EMU this last spring. For those of you who are not, it involved a drink plus cup pricing scheme rather than the familiar single price formula that we are all accustomed to. Drinks were priced on menu boards as liquid only with a 50 cent cup charge added for customers who needed a disposable paper cup. Those who brought their own cup were given a 50 cent discount. Reusable cups were available for loan to customers who had none.

Since this program was determined to be a success, we will now be implementing a modified version of it at the Outlets in addition to the usual price increase.

We will be displaying pricing on our menus that reflects the liquid beverage only, no cup. There will be a 25 cent charge for the use of a disposable cup. There will be no extra charge when a cup comes with the customer. There will not be a discount in the traditional sense.

We will not be providing cups to borrow as we do not have adequate space to store or clean them.

My staff is not aware of this at the moment so I would ask that you direct all feedback to me rather than the staff behind the counters. They have no say in this matter one way or the other. I will be here tomorrow and will try to be available for discussion but I am prepping for training next week so I will be in and out of the office. I will be gone Friday.

I apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

Best,

Joshua
