SUBJECT:     Campus Wide Recycling Inventory

Over the next two months Campus Recycling Program is conducting a campus wide inventory of all campus waste/recycling/compost receptacles located in all campus buildings serviced by Campus Operations' custodial staff. This includes all interior spaces such as offices, hallways, classrooms, bathrooms and conference rooms. EMU, Housing, leased buildings and Autzen complex employ their own custodial staff and will not be included in this inventory.

The purpose of this project is to assess the waste management system of collection and removal of materials from offices and evaluate the data to improve opportunities for waste diversion instead of favoring waste generation. This will allow us to update our best practices and procedures.

Two recycling program staff members will be conducting the inventory. They have ID badges and will identify themselves and purpose when they visit your department. They will knock on each door, identify themselves and if it is convenient, they will conduct the inventory. If it is not a convenient time, they will set up a time that works for the occupant. If there is no answer, they will access the room. It takes less than 3 minutes to conduct the inventory and nothing will be disturbed in the rooms.
