coe-staff: New free math education book from Dave Moursund

Hi:

Since I retired from the UO, I have written several books of interest to teachers, teachers of teachers, parents of school-age children, and so on. I make these books available free on the Web.
I have just completed a new book that I want to share with the world. (I apologize to you if you receive more than one copy of this email. I am using multiple lists to distribute the book.)



Here is a free copy of my latest book titled: Using Brain/Mind Science and Computers to Improve Elementary School Math Education.



This July 2012 book is specifically designed for use in the preservice and inservice education of elementary school teachers whose duties include teaching math. It provides an introduction to brain/mind science and computers as they relate to teaching and learning math. The goal of the book is to improve the quality of math education that elementary school students are receiving.

The book can be used as supplemental reading in a math methords coursse or a math for elementary teachers course. It can be used in inservice education workshops for elementary teachers and for self-instruction. It contains a large number of links to materials currently available on the Web and an extensive index.

•   Other Free IAE documents. A "miscellaneous" collection of good stuff. This includes 137 Editor's Messages written by David Moursund while he was Editor-in-Chief of the International Society for Technology in Education.

•   A major (and free) IAE initiative on math tutoring.
