TO:                Campus Building Managers

SUBJECT:    Steam Release today



Starting at 12:30 pm today and going throughout the day but no later than10:00pm, Central Power Plant will be blowing out bursts of steam. Each burst will last up to 20 minutes and will occur every 45-60 minutes.



A test was run this morning at 10:30 am to determine that this noise will be minimal on campus and should not impact campus activities. This work will be done by Campus Operations.


This procedure is needed to clean out newly installed steam pipes that are part of our new co-generation system being installed at CPS.  This process involves sending steam through the piping to flush out any particulates, dirt, rust in the lines prior to connecting them to our new steam turbine.
