coe-staff: Dr. Krista Chronister wins Graduate Excellence Award for Director of Graduate Studies

 Please join me in congratulating Dr. Krista Chronister, this year's 
 recipient of the 2012 UO Graduate School Excellence Award for Directors 
 of Graduate Studies.

 Dr. Chronister is a shining example of excellence in her role as 
 Director of the Counseling Psychology Doctoral Program in the Counseling 
 Psychology and Human Services Department in the COE. Her department 
 head, Benedict McWhirter, had this to say about her: “Krista Chronister 
 performs the training director job better than anyone I have seen.” He 
 went on in his nomination letter to highlight Krista’s communication 
 skills, scholarship, leadership in enhancing diversity, and mentoring 
 and serving as a role model.

 The list would be too long if I were to highlight all of the wonderful 
 contributions Krista has made to the Counseling Psychology Program. I 
 will say, however, that through her leadership, Dr. Chronister has 
 enhanced the national visibility of the Counseling Psychology Program 
 here in our College. Krista works tirelessly with local and national 
 stakeholders to provide exemplary training in counseling psychology with 
 an emphasis on culture, diversity, and social justice. Dr. Chronister is 
 a leader in her field of scholarship and provides a wonderful example of 
 scholarship in action, focusing on issues related to domestic violence 
 prevention. Indeed, she has been identified by her peers as in the top 
 5% of scholars in the field at her level. Dr. Chronister is always 
 available to her students, colleagues, and community partners, a huge 
 accomplishment given her productivity as a scholar.

 As a fellow Director of Graduate Studies/Program Director of School 
 Psychology, it has been such a pleasure to work with Krista. She surely 
 is a shining star for the College and this University.

 Congratulations, Krista on this award. It is much deserved!
