coe-fac: Training opportunity on Foundations of Restorative Justice Practices

The Department of Counseling Psychology and Human Services (CPHS) is excited to offer a two-day, in-person training on Foundations of Restorative Justice Practices in collaboration with the University of Nebraska's Juvenile Justice Institute (see trainer bios here<https://www.unomaha.edu/college-of-public-affairs-and-community-service/juvenile-justice-institute/about-us/anne-hobbs.php> and here<https://www.unomaha.edu/college-of-public-affairs-and-community-service/juvenile-justice-institute/about-us/monica-miles-steffens.php>). Thanks to an Implementation Grant through the UO Office of the Provost, we are able to offer this training to COE faculty and GEs for free (space is limited to 30 participants).
Dates & Times:
* Pre-session (Zoom): November 21, 2025, 1:00-2:30 PM PT
* 2-day Training (in-person): December 8-9, 2025, 8:45 AM-5:00 PM (includes short breaks; refreshments provided, lunch on your own)
* Post-session (Zoom): February 6, 2026, 1:00-2:30 PM PT
Attendance at all sessions (pre, training, and post) is required to receive certification. Some flexibility for the pre-session may be allowed under special circumstances.
Benefits of Participation:
* Training from IIRP-certified trainers (International Institute for Restorative Practices)
* Two books on Restorative Practices
* Micro-credential from the University of Nebraska Omaha (eligible for continuing education credit)
* Knowledge of the history and philosophy of Restorative Justice
* Skills to facilitate proactive/restorative circles and conferencing
* Syllabus workshop to support RJ pedagogy (policies, lesson planning, and classroom activities)
Important Registration Information:
* Registration closes October 17th @ 10:00am
* Spots are limited to 30 participants.
* For graduate employees (GEs): If registration exceeds capacity, priority will be given to those with instructor positions in the next two terms. We will notify you by email by October 24th if you are officially registered or placed on the waitlist.
