Hello COE faculty,

As you may know, the library has been trying to buy course texts in ebook format when available to support distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic since we are not able to provide our usual print book course reserve service. The Duck Store has been giving the library a list of required course readings each term and I have been reaching out to faculty directly when the library already has or is able to purchase an ebook for their title. Unfortunately, some of the popular textbook publishers like Pearson, Cengage, McGraw Hill, etc. do not sell ebooks to libraries and some ebooks may only be available with restrictive single-user licenses (particularly popular fiction and non-fiction titles).

We haven’t gotten the spring term textbook list from the Duck Store yet, but I wanted to remind you that you are welcome to reach out to me if you’d like me to check on ebook availability for your course-assigned texts. I’ll have access to the Duck Store list eventually, but I also know that not everyone may share their reading list with the Duck Store. Our library Access Services department will also be continuing to offer a scanning service<https://library.uoregon.edu/borrowing/scanning-remote-teaching> for readings that are less than 20% of a book.

Let me know if you have any questions or if there’s any other way I can help as you’re preparing for spring term.

Best,
Katherine
