Dear Faculty,
Well, the email excess problem remains unresolved. This email string crossed paths with my delivery of the Weekly moments ago. The request is time sensitive because faculty recruiting is now taking place beyond the original deadlines. Regrets.
Please contact Kevin Hatfield for further information kevhat at uoregon.edu<mailto:kevhat at uoregon.edu>.
Thank you for considering this opportunity,
Randy
Dear Colleagues,
I’m passing along the message below from Kevin Hatfield, assistant vice provost for Undergraduate Research who also serves as the director of academic residential and research initiatives. The Faculty Fellows Program is a collaboration between the Division of Undergraduate Education and Student Success and University Housing. The program allows faculty members to contribute to the growth of our students by partnering with a residence hall during the year, and offering academic advice and support to students. This year in particular, it is absolutely critical to the long-term success of the university that students have enhanced opportunities for direct engagement with university faculty. It’s a really terrific program.
If you there are faculty that you think might be interested, I’d encourage you to pass this message along to them. Thanks for your time.
Patrick Phillips
Provost and Senior Vice President
Dear UO Academic Leaders,
We are delighted to announce the expansion of the Faculty Fellows Program, a collaboration between the Division of Undergraduate Education and Student Success and University Housing. Please consider applying or encouraging faculty in your areas to submit their interest. Currently, University Housing hosts six faculty fellows, and with support from the Office of the Provost, is excited to grow this opportunity for both faculty members and undergraduate students living in the residence halls. This program is not a live-on position and is a complement to our three Faculty-in-Residence.
The FF program positions faculty members to contribute to a dynamic living-learning environment in the UO residence halls. The FF program is a part of the network of academic connections and support for residential students that includes the Academic Residential Communities (ARC) and the Faculty in Residence Program. The program affirms a culture of inquiry as the heart of the UO undergraduate experience and engages faculty with students from the beginning of their college career.
Living on campus centers on community, from cultivating relationships with a roommate or a resident assistant to attending a faculty-led program, joining an ARC, or getting involved in Hall Council. University Housing intends for all residents to thrive by engaging in and creating just communities where students feel they matter. Residential students experience learning opportunities rooted in five learning goals (cultural competence, well-being, integrated learning, relationships in communities, and responsibility). Faculty fellows plan at least one of their programs per term around these learning goals.
Faculty Fellows receive $3,000 and a University Housing meal plan for the academic year. They also receive $200 in programming funds per term. Anyone who is interested should take this short Qualtrics survey<https://oregon.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cOnCyqffXv3kzad>. The full faculty fellow role description can be found at the beginning of the survey. The option to save responses is available in PDF format after submission.
These positions are open until filled with a priority review date of September 22. Offers will be made by September 29 with the objective on onboarding faculty fellows to the cohort for the beginning of fall term. If you have any questions about the Faculty Fellows Program, please reach out to Jessica Winders at miller8 at uoregon.edu<mailto:miller8 at uoregon.edu>.
Sincerely,
Kevin D. Hatfield, PhD
Assistant Vice Provost for Undergraduate Research
Director of Academic Residential & Research Initiatives (ARRI)
Director of Center for Undergraduate Research and Engagement (CURE)
