Hello COE faculty,

With the beginning of a new academic year, I wanted to remind you of some of the services the UO Libraries and I can offer you, as well as some of the resources we've recently acquired.

Here are a few ways I can help:

  * Research consultation appointments - schedule a time by using my appointment calendar<http://uoregon.libcal.com/appointment/24599> or send me an email. I will also be trying out offering drop-in research help in the HEDCO Learning Commons on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-3 pm this term.
  * Instruction sessions on research and library resources for your class. Let me know if you'd like me to visit your class. We also have classrooms in Knight Library if you'd like to bring your class here.
  * Help with getting started with the citation management tools Zotero and Mendeley
  * Send me your requests for books, DVDs, children's/YA books, etc. that you would like the library to purchase, budget permitting.
  * I maintain research guides<http://researchguides.uoregon.edu/prf.php?account_id=121286> for some of the programs in the COE. These should automatically appear as a tab on your Canvas course site (that you can toggle on or off as you like).

And here are a few things I wanted to highlight related to some of our newer library resources:

  * A reminder that we now have electronic access to the DSM-5<http://researchguides.uoregon.edu/DSM-5-Online>
  * Our trial subscription to Cabells Scholarly Analytics<http://researchguides.uoregon.edu/cabells> (a resource that provides acceptance rates and other metrics for academic journals) will be expiring on Dec. 20, 2019. If you have any feedback about this resource, please share it with me.
  * Our access model for the streaming video database Kanopy<http://researchguides.uoregon.edu/kanopy/> changed over the summer. Due to rising costs, you will now need to place a request for any films you would like to use for your courses or research. We already have longer-term licenses for all films in the Criterion collection as well as several highly-used titles, but we are happy to activate other films you might need. There are directions on how to place a request here<https://researchguides.uoregon.edu/c.php?g=942709&p=6795405>.

Let me know if you have any questions, suggestions, or other ideas about how the library could support you and your students. I hope you have a good fall term!

Best,
Katherine
