Hello,
Each year departments and programs across campus participate in a program called the Summer Academic Program to Inspire Learning (SAIL) where students from local high schools come to spend a week on campus to learn about how to become a college students, including courses on financial aid, scholarship, and general college readiness. Each participant chooses a major and spends the week learning about it.
The COE participates in this program by having faculty members lead classes for these students. Each of our undergraduate majors and minors has volunteered to create engaging programming for the students, but there is some time left that we haven't been able to cover yet.
I am hoping to find faculty willing to lead one of two 2-hour blocks of time we have remaining. These blocks are from 9:30 - 11:30 am and 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm on Thursday, July 26. Or someone more adventurous could take all 4 hours! We'd like programs that can provide programming around the concept of "Being a Change Maker." For each hour, we ask that there be only 15 minutes of direct instruction at the most, followed by an activity and discussion for the remainder of the time.
I can provide more information to those who are interested or take a look at the SAIL website here: https://sail.uoregon.edu/
Thanks,
Lisa
