SENT ON BEHALF OF ANGELA WILHELMS (Statutory Faculty Coordinator) and the UNIVERISTY SENATE
Dear COE Faculty:
As you may know, Professor Elizabeth Skowron's position has recently transferred to CAS. This transfer means she is no longer eligible to serve in her position as a COE-elected faculty senator. This creates a vacancy in the University Senate for a statutory faculty member. The vacancy is for the remainder of this academic year and for academic year 2019-2020. We will conduct a mini-election the first week of term to fill this vacancy. Please email Angela Wilhelms (wilhelms at uoregon.edu<mailto:wilhelms at uoregon.edu>) with a cc to Dianna Carrizales-Engelmann by Wednesday, March 27 if you are interested in running to fill this vacancy, or have a colleague to nominate. There is no restriction on which department a senator may come from, but because two remaining senators are both from SPECS, we do support the idea of diversifying your representation. Again, this is not a preclusion on anyone who wants to run...maybe just a little prod to other departments...
It is worth noting that regular annual university senate and committee elections are coming up in late April. Two COE positions will be up for election this year for full two-year terms. Sitting senators may seek re-election, but others are of course welcome to run. This special election will be just for this vacancy and partial term.
Thank you,
Angela
(Statutory Faculty Coordinator Role)
