Dear Students,

On Tuesday November 6th Dr. Darleen Opfer, Vice President for the Education and Labor Research Division at the RAND Corporation (bio attached), will be conducting a session on the topic of "Trends in Breaking Down Data Silos in Education". In this presentation, Darleen will discuss three trends in data use that are expanding the possibilities in the conduct and use of education research:

1. Improvements in the use of traditional education data

2. Joining education data with other data sources

3. 'New' types of data and its potential and pitfalls for education
In discussing these three trends in data use, Darleen will provide examples from RAND research to show the ways that data can be leveraged to have greater impact on policy and practice in education.

This session will be held in HEDCO 230T from 1:00 - 2:30 on November 6th, 2018 and is open to all students in the COE. The session may be particularly relevant to students interested in leveraging education data to inform educational policy and practice.

If you are planning to attend all or part of the session, please RSVP here https://oregon.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_dihfONiOB1YLU1L by Friday November 2nd, 2018.

Best.
