The following message is being forwarded to you on behalf of Ed Kame'enui, Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development:
Dear COE faculty researchers,
*Are you interested in involving underrepresented undergrad students in your research?
*Would you be willing to talk briefly (approx. 15 min.) this term to one of our students from the Community for Multicultural Scholars Academic Residential Community (CMS ARC) regarding your research?
If you said "Yes" to either question, please provide your contact information on this Qualtrics link by Friday, Jan. 26.

Sincerely,
Jeanne Nagayama Hall
CMS ARC faculty director
P.S. For more information:
Freshmen students have an opportunity to live in a residential floor that is a designated ARC (academic residential community) for a particular academic or identity interest. Those students in the Multicultural Scholars ARC wish to support students of color in their cultural and other identities, including their identity as scholars.
Many freshmen only know of their general career interest, and they are not aware of the many different research possibilities in your academic area. Also, for underrepresented students, and especially for first-generation college students, students may not have heard how to specifically develop their undergraduate years in order to prepare themselves for graduate school and a career.
During this term, the CMS ARC students will be assigned to very briefly interview (approx. 15 min.) a faculty researcher in their interested academic area. If you are open to being briefly interviewed, please fill out the above Qualtrics link to be on our list of available faculty researchers. Our students will then choose to contact a faculty researcher based on their interest. The student will email the faculty person before Week 7, and then set up a brief interview appointment within Weeks 7-9.
