Hello,
If any faculty members are planning on providing extra credit to their students who attend the BE Hopeful event, could you please let me know? They want to make sure they note which students are there plus they’d like to see if the extra credit results in more students attending. Just send me an email with the course number to let me know.

Thanks,
Lisa

Lisa and Krista-
Thanks so much for promoting this! If it is possible to get a list of which professors are offering extra credit, our BEteam can keep count of how many COE students turn out for extra credit. This might help COE and BEteam estimate how extra credit effects turn out (that and the cupcake incentive!).
Thanks so much!
Suzanne

Hello BEseries Partners and Friends,

BE Hopeful: Dr. Donna Beegle, author of See Poverty/Be the Difference

The BEseries is excited to partner with the College of Education to bring Dr. Donna Beegle to the UO.

Donna M. Beegle, Ed.D. is an authentic voice who speaks, writes and trains across the nation to break the iron cage of poverty. She is the author of "See Poverty... Be The Difference" and also took part in CNN's panel, "The Other America." Dr. Beegle has received national acclaim and standing ovations for her ability to passionately and succinctly address the issue of poverty. Educators need to know about poverty and its impact on students. Dr. Beegle's lived experiences and emphasis on education as the key pathway out of poverty makes this an especially pertinent presentation for all educators and researchers. Dr. Beegle offers us a story of hope during challenging times, please join us for BEHopeful.

This event will be on Tuesday, February 7th, 7:00pm in EMU Redwood Auditorium. We will be giving away four of Dr. Beegle's books and dessert will be provided after the presentation.
