Thanks to the generosity of the University of Oregon Foundation, I am delighted to announce a new internal award program sponsored by the Foundation and administered by my office.  This internal award will furnish seed funding for scholars and researchers in the humanities and social sciences.

For the 2017 and 2018 award cycles, Interdisciplinary Awards in the Humanities and Social Sciences will support projects in the environmental humanities and social sciences.  We are seeking innovative projects that investigate the interrelationships between human activity and the environment and that employ humanistic and social scientific modes of investigation.

I anticipate making up to three awards of up to $25,000 each which will furnish seed funding and support the preparatory work necessary to develop competitive external funding proposals.  Proposed projects should rely on collaborative partnerships across departments and colleges.

The deadline for applications for 2017 awards is February 6, 2017.
