Dear Colleagues,

The Clark Honors College (CHC) invites course proposals from faculty for the 2017-18 academic year. Proposals are due November 16, 2016 and should be submitted online<https://forms.uoregon.edu/forms/list/Clark%20Honors%20College>.

The CHC offers opportunities to teach small groups of highly motivated students with strong academic skills. Students enrolled in the CHC major in a broad range of disciplines on our campus but come together in their Honors College classes to learn and to share their perspectives in the context of a liberal arts and sciences curriculum. Teaching a course at CHC may offer opportunities for interdisciplinarity, as well as for pedagogical experimentation and innovation.

Course proposals for 200-level introductory courses and 400-level colloquia are welcome from all faculty – tenured, tenure-related, and NTTF - from across all colleges and fields at UO. Further details on course types are available on the CHC website<http://honors.uoregon.edu/content/submit-course-proposal>. All courses should be designed for a maximum of 19 students in a class, should be relevant for students pursuing various majors, and should encourage critical and creative thinking, writing, reading, and discussion skills.

Submitting your proposal:

Course proposals must be submitted via the Clark Honors College Affiliated Faculty Course Proposal<https://forms.uoregon.edu/forms/list/Clark%20Honors%20College> online form. All documents require electronic signatures from your department head - and from your dean if you are a non-CAS faculty member – and must be submitted by November 16, 2016 at 5pm. This deadline makes it possible for the CHC Curriculum Committee to review proposals and make agreements with UO departments in a timely manner.

CHC affiliated faculty are generally compensated at the standard UO course buyout rate, and through various mechanisms consisting of buyouts, direct hires, overloads, and in some cases trades/exchanges. Any deviation from standard compensation options and/or exchanges must be explicitly agreed to by the CHC Assistant Dean.

If you have any questions, or if you would like to discuss ideas for courses in more detail, you’re welcome to get in touch with me at rlindner at uoregon.edu<mailto:rlindner at uoregon.edu>. We look forward to hearing from you.

With thanks and best wishes,
Rebecca
