coe-fac: Reading Ta-Nehisi Coates' - Between the World and Me

Dear College Faculty:

Author Ta-Nehisi Coates' award-winning book, Between the World and Me, has been selected as the 2016-17 UO common reading book selection http://commonreading.uoregon.edu/ ; all incoming first-year undergraduate students will read and discuss the book during the 2016-17 academic year.  Also, Coates will visit our campus on February 18, 2017 as the Ruhl Lecturer at the School of Journalism and Communication http://journalism.uoregon.edu/events/ruhl-lecture/.

If you are interested in reading Between the World and Me and joining in a small, casual summer group discussion about the text and its application to our teaching, please contact me by August 1.  I will email all of those who are interested to arrange an early September time to meet and eat.  We have a few free copies of Between the World and Me in the SAS office.
