coe-fac: No UO Summer Commencement Ceremony

Hello,
The UO will no longer be hosting a summer commencement ceremony (see message below).  Please let me know if you have any questions or if you foresee any problems with this.  I don't think we've had more than a handful of students participate in the summer event, so there shouldn't be a huge impact.  Students do not need any particular number of credits to walk in our spring ceremony or in the UO main spring ceremony, so even if the student is graduating in summer or next fall, they can still walk in June.

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share content that we will be sending out to all seniors tomorrow with general information about degree application deadlines, university commencement ceremony, Grad Fair dates, and events that might interest graduating students.

There is also an announcement that we will not be holding a university commencement ceremony in August this year. Around 130 students have participated in that ceremony in the past 3-4 years, so you may receive questions and concerns about that decision. Please encourage students to contact our office if they would like to speak with someone about that decision. The attendance at this summer ceremony has been steadily declining, and the equity in dollars invested per student between the spring ceremonies and the summer ceremony has been extremely imbalanced. All students graduating in any term are welcome to participate in the spring ceremonies.

Please take a peek at your materials to remove any links or references to summer commencement for this upcoming year.

Let me know if I can help answer any questions. See attached for the email information that will be distributed to all seniors.
