Dear COE Faculty:
A working group of ten of your peers has been engaged since March of this year in revising and updating the COE's policy on promotion and tenure, and developing and refining a new policy on determination of workload and FTE, both geared toward tenure-track faculty, much as a similar group did during the last academic year for Career Track (NTTF) faculty.
These policy documents (attached) are now ready for your review, comment and ratification. I encourage you all to review these documents, and all tenure-track faculty to follow the survey link below to offer input and vote on whether to move the documents forward for administrative review. The documents can also be accessed from within the survey.

Please complete the survey, if you plan to do so, by 8am on Thursday, October 8, in order for the Dean to make a thorough review of the documents you vote to move forward as well as your comments and make any needed adjustments. Academic Affairs has asked the Dean to forward the finalized versions of these documents by the close of business on Thursday, October 15. If either of these documents are not ratified at this time, they (and your collated comments and concerns) will be provided to a new faculty working group that will be formed to complete the needed adjustments before resubmission to the entire faculty. In this case, we have received word from Academic Affairs that an extension of the October 15 deadline can be negotiated.
Please join me in thanking the members of the working group responsible for updating and developing these policies (listed below), and I thank you all in advance for your participation in this important element of our governance process.
