coe-fac: Review of NTTF Review and Promotion Policy for COE (on behalf of the Faculty Workgroup on NTTF Promotion)

Dear COE Faculty:

We are soliciting faculty comments on the revised NTTF Promotion Policy, attached. We were charged with bringing our existing policy in compliance with the CBA. Although the intent and content of the existing COE NTTF Promotion Policy remains largely the same, changes were mostly to add clarity and specifics around appointment definitions, timelines, materials and the actual activities involved in promotion.

The largest changes were to the matrix at the end of the document (labeled Figure 1) that delineates the NTTF Ranks and Appointment Criteria. We made changes in the general language in order to have parallel structure across appointments and ranks. We also provided examples of how the criteria are instantiated at each level. The policy also now includes provisions for adjunct faculty and postdoctoral fellows as instructed by the CBA.

PLEASE NOTE: We did NOT develop the descriptions for the Clinical Practice Professor or the Research Professor appointments. These will be developed winter term to allow for a wider range of discussion by COE faculty.
