coe-fac: Welcome, Faculty

Dear Faculty,

I am writing to formally welcome all new and returning faculty. I have had the pleasure of speaking with many of you in the past few days and weeks, and I look forward to many more conversations.

We are embarking on an exciting academic year, one that affords us opportunities to hire new faculty colleagues, revisit and renew all aspects of our work, and pursue rewarding new instructional, research, and service initiatives.

In the coming weeks I hope that you will attend our upcoming welcome events occurring on the next two Fridays; the COE Welcome luncheon on September 26 (RSVP to Lisa Fortin - lfortin at uoregon.edu<mailto:lfortin at uoregon.edu>), and the all COE faculty and staff meeting on October 3 at 1pm in CSB 250. Communication, in the service of inclusive decision making, is one of my priorities for this year. You will be invited to numerous additional opportunities to communicate about all aspects of our work, in both informal and formal venues. With regard to the former, when you see me around the COE complex, or anywhere else, please stop me whenever you wish, to discuss whatever you wish. I do not want to miss any opportunities to learn about you and your work. I need this information in order to do my job better. For example, I have to be maximally informed in order to represent you better to both internal and external constituencies.

Again, welcome to our community of extraordinary scholars, capable staff, and talented and interesting students. Please let me know how I may make your year more rewarding.
