Good Afternoon,
Oregon Public Broadcasting’s Rob Manning is working on a radio documentary he’s referring to as the “Class of 2025 Project,” in which he'll chronicle the lives of five current first-graders over the next decade or so. Now that he has his pool of subjects, he knows what he wants to learn and is hoping to speak with subject-matter experts from the COE, particularly on the following topics:
* The implications of an ADHD diagnosis, or misdiagnosis, in terms of development, schooling, parenting, etc.
* The implications of having a sibling on the spectrum
* Primary education for kids whose parents do not speak English
* Socio-economic stressors related to childhood development, particularly families near the poverty line
* Minority issues related to primary education
Rob will be here from about 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 4. Ideally, he would use most of that time moving from office to office, learning about some of these issues. The interviews would be recorded for use in the documentary (audio only) and would last 20-30 minutes.
If you can comment generally on these topics and and are available during that window, please let me know asap. I will likely follow up early next week with specific individuals who may be a fit for this opportunity.
Thanks much,
Cody
