coe-fac: CTL Reading Clinic Tutor Opportunity: Winter Term

Hello,

I write to seek your help in recruiting UO students to tutor in our CTL Reading Clinic this winter. In 2013-2014, we are offering tutoring services to struggling readers in the elementary grades, in Bethel School District. Our after school program serves three of Bethel's schools, approximately 2:15-3:15 p.m., or 3:00-4:00 p.m., depending on the time school lets out at participating sites. Tutoring sessions will begin in week 2 of each quarter and conclude in week 10 of each quarter. Selected Bethel students will participate in one hour of small group reading instruction per day, Monday through Thursday each week, delivered by trained tutors. Training will be held in two, 2-hour sessions during the first week of the term. UO students may volunteer to tutor, or tutor for credit, with the option of earning 1-2 credits depending on whether they teach a small group every day or tutor for only 2 days per week. I am hoping you can share this opportunity with your students or others in the community that may be interested in gaining teaching experience.
