FYI-
Please distribute this announcement to your faculty.
The Vice President for Research and Innovation announces two new internal award programs.
* Idea awards are designed to stimulate discussion and development of collaborative ideas for research projects that will enhance the UO's research strengths and that will be candidates for future external funding. Funds may be used to sponsor an external speaker, engage in a planning workshop or retreat, retain a consultant to conduct a seminar or workshop, or in other ways that encourage collaborative research and engage faculty in projects to facilitate research excellence. Idea awards will be made up to $5,000. Deadlines for the submission of proposals are December 7, 2012, and April 5, 2013.
* I3 (Incubating Interdisciplinary Initiatives) Awards are designed to support development of large-scale projects and programs that target specific federal agency programs that offer programmatic, large-scale funding. I3 proposals should rely on collaborative partnerships across departments and colleges. Partnerships may include external institutions of strategic importance. I3 awards provide up to $50,000 for one year. Deadline for the submission of proposals is February 1, 2013.
Idea and I3 Award guidelines and applications are available online in the Announcements sidebar at http://rfd.uoregon.edu/. Questions should be directed to Lynn Stearney, Director, Research Development Services, 346-8308.
