As a Speech Therapist, your day-to-day responsibilities include evaluation and treatment, care coordination, caseload management, regulatory/compliance adherence, clinical competence, performance improvement, communication, and specific unit responsibilities such as Quality Impact scoring and certification for Modified Barium Swallow Studies. Evaluation and treatment involve utilizing evidence-based standards to assess patients, develop treatment plans, and involve patients/families in goal setting. Care coordination includes collaborating with the healthcare team, understanding patient resources, and training for discharge. Caseload management requires proactive management, optimizing access, and flexibility. Regulatory/compliance standards, clinical competence, and performance improvement are integral.
