Subject: CSD & SLP Study Abroad Opportunity
Hi Professor Meyer,
My name is Jessy Brown, and I am a speech-language pathologist and co-founder of Therapy Abroad. I am writing to ask if you would be willing to share this opportunity with students in your department at University of Oregon. Below you will find more details about our program offerings as well as an attached flyer. If you have any questions about our programs before distributing this to students, I would be happy to provide you with professional references and contact details from professors, SLPs, and Universities who have participated and/or offered academic credit for our programs. Learn more about our international communications learning camp from an article recently featured in the California Speech-Hearing Association (CSHA) magazine, “Ahoy Undergrads! International Speech-Language Therapy.”<https://therapyabroad-dot-yamm-track.appspot.com/Redirect?ukey=1lyMbFiiv1YcBfaLAvL3TZHt92_uuF5ICCU0ebRis4FQ-19397593&key=YAMMID-01886906&link=http%3A%2F%2Ftherapyabroad.org%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2018%2F09%2FCSHA-Magazine-Article.pdf>
We also have fully funded short-term staff positions available. If you are interested please contact me and I will send you detailed information.

All of our programs are designed for students who want to take advantage of working alongside professional ASHA accredited speech-language pathologists (SLPs) in order to observe and learn more about communication sciences and disorders, prepare for graduate school or enhance their graduate school experience, and travel and learn more about a new culture. “This trip allowed undergraduate students, who typically have no therapeutic experience or a chance to observe their professor practice, to engage with communication sciences and disorders on a deeper, more meaningful level. Working in small groups, students will gain hands-on experience, professional observation hours, intercultural exchange, and a better understanding of global issues." -Dr. Kris Brock P.h.D CCC-SLP, Idaho State University
Therapy Abroad students and staff provide essential services such as speech & language screenings, evaluations, and intervention. Students and staff will take part in a communications learning camp for children with special needs designed around skill-based stations (learning centers)- speaking/ listening/ learning/ sensory/fine & gross motor skills. Students will also take part in home-based field visits where you will visit children with special needs in their own homes, as part of a small interdisciplinary team consisting of SLPs, social workers, and medical doctors.
Time will also be set aside to learn new concepts, practice skills and learn about local culture and history. Students will gain hands-on and observational SLP experience working in a variety of settings, experience with applied behavior analysis, leadership experience as well as insight and discussion on applying to graduate schools and career opportunities as an SLP.
