CDS-Connection: Dysphagia Support Group

Did you know that the University of Oregon has a dysphagia support group?

Meetings generally consist of an educational presentation (frequently with guest speakers) and time for unstructured conversation. Our group is appropriate for any adult experiencing dysphagia or caregiver of any individual (pediatric or adult) with dysphagia.

Our group meets every other month and our next meeting is on July 30th from 5-7 PM. The topic for this meeting will be on education and advocacy. We will be sharing some information and resources related to swallowing disorders. Then, we will work as a group to identify what our community needs as related to dysphagia education. We want to use this time to brainstorm the most effective ways of increasing awareness about this extremely important topic (both to the general community as well as the medical community) and start putting some of these plans in action. We also will certainly have our dedicated time for conversation and group sharing.
