The Center for Asian and Pacific Studies is recruiting for the position of UO-Karakoram International University Program Coordinator. This is a newly created part-time (.50 FTE), Officer of Administration fixed-term position, beginning approximately October 15, 2013 and ending September 30, 2016. Annual contract renewal is contingent upon renewed grant funds.
The UO-KIU Program Coordinator will report to the Director of the Center for Asian and Pacific Studies.
Responsibilities:
The UO-KIU Program Coordinator is responsible for the administration of the academic partnership program between the UO and Karakoram International University in Pakistan. This will involve facilitating faculty and student exchanges for curriculum and program development related to teaching and research in International Studies, Environmental Studies and Business Management.
Specific responsibilities include:
Manage a specialized exchange program between the UO and KIU faculty and students, including collaborating with the co-directors on the planning of curricular and professional development activities with KIU and UO faculty and students
Manage exchange logistics, including facilitating pre-departure orientation sessions, arranging travel and housing, assisting with visas, etc. It will also involve hosting the KIU visitors by providing orientation sessions, introducing them to UO faculty, staff, and students, and arranging special lectures and receptions on campus
Manage the program evaluation process by collaborating with the co-directors on developing evaluation instruments, collecting data, and creating reports
Oversee the program budget, provide monthly reports on expenditures, and work with the funding agency on grant reporting, policies, and procedures
Supervise student assistants, including managing the hiring and scheduling of student workers
Required qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
International degree and/or overseas experience
Minimum three years' administrative experience, preferably within a higher education environment
Demonstrated program development, management, budget-tracking, and reporting experience
Substantial event planning experience (some travel and weekend/evening work required)
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Familiarity with curriculum and/or program development
Demonstrated experience working with faculty, staff, and/or students from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Must be flexible and able to work well on a team as well as individually
Organizational, time-management, and intercultural skills
Attention to detail
Flexibility, creativity, and enthusiasm
Preferred qualifications
Master’s degree
Prior experience working with grants
Proficiency in Urdu
Salary base: $48,000 at .50 FTE, based on qualifications and experience; The University provides excellent benefits, including comprehensive medical and dental insurance coverage, retirement plans, and sick and vacation policies. The FTE may increase in the future depending on need, funding and performance.
