buyers: Come Spend the Day with PCS

On October 2nd, Purchasing and Contracting Services (PCS) will be hosting the UO Vendor Showcase at the EMU ballroom from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. During that time, we will also be offering drop-in classes for UO employees to attend. Each class will be 45 minutes in length. There is no registration for these classes. Other administrative units across campus have joined with us to offer a wide variety of purchasing-related topics. The final schedule will be posted soon, but here are the topics we have scheduled so far!

>Continuous Improvement - What's next for UO Purchasing & Contracting Services?
Discuss a variety of initiatives including the 5-year Strategic Purchasing Plan, new automation in procurement as well as in PCard intake and records. Hear why we are changing things up, what we hope to accomplish, and how you can help.

>E-Procurement
What is it, why are we changing to this kind of shopping, and how does it work?
We will demonstrate the basics of Duck Depot, showing you how to order, personalize your screen, and set up workflows. Find out what Duck Depot does for the UO, and why you should start shopping online.

>Fun with Furniture
We will discuss furniture and design on campus. Learn how to buy, and about where the University is going as it moves forward with some online furniture suppliers.

>Uniform Guidance and Purchasing on Grants
Uniform Guidance was implemented on July 1, 2018.  It requires that purchases of over $10,000 on federal grants need to have three quotes. Learn about what this looks like, what you need to do, and who to consult with if you need help.

>Implicit Bias and how you spend you spend the taxpayers' dollars
Over the past decade, more and more information has been coming out to campus about implicit bias and its effect on hiring. Another area of implicit bias that isn't talked about as much is the way it can affect your purchasing decisions. Come and learn about why we want you to look broader in your purchasing. Learn about the utilization of historically underutilized businesses (HUB) and why we want to invest locally.

>ABC's in Contracting - a brief overview
Have you been a longer-term UO employee? Can you not remember the last time you sat for a purchasing class but the idea of committing an afternoon to it just seems to be too much? Come and spend 30 minutes on a speedy ride through the highlights of purchasing. This class is not for new employees, who need to take Purchasing 101 - this is a review class for those who already have taken it in prior years.

>Concur Travel and the One Card
Do you travel often or hardly at all? What is the One Card and why should you get one? Come and hear from UO's Travel Office an overview on how to make your travel simpler.

>How to Navigate PCS
Find out from the insiders the answers to our most frequent questions. How do you get through the system quickly? What do you need to do when you need help? Make a mistake? Come here all the secrets to make working with PCS a breeze.

>PCard and Concur
Have you been a longer-term UO employee? Maybe you took the PCard training months or years ago. Need a quick refresher? We will review the high points, and go over the most common things that people forget, and answer your questions. We will also preview a new system coming fall term.

>Property Loan Forms, tags, and managing assets
Do you buy computers, equipment, or other things that get property control tags? Want to know how Property Control identifies where to send tags? Learn why we do property loan forms. Get your questions answered.
