Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Craig Ashford has decided to return full-time to the Office of the General Counsel as an assistant general counsel, and Greg Shabram has accepted my invitation to serve as interim director of Purchasing and Contracting Services beginning February 1.

Craig has managed for nearly two years to remain wonderfully successful in two jobs, given his dual role as both director of Purchasing and Contracting Services and an assistant general counsel for the university since May 2016. As PCS director he's spearheaded a number of pathbreaking initiatives to improve procurement processes and promote cost savings across campus, efforts for which I am tremendously grateful. Craig will continue to provide primary legal support to PCS, along with advising campus in other juicy areas of law, like tax matters and retirement plans.

During this transition, PCS remains in very capable hands. Greg has impeccable credentials, extensive experience, and a track record of collaborative engagement with university stakeholders. Currently serving as associate director of PCS, Greg earned his J.D. from the UO School of Law in 2009. He has worked in PCS for more than six years and also worked as a procurement agent for Boeing in Seattle, where he coordinated high-value, mission-critical purchasing initiatives and resolved supply chain vendor disputes.  Greg remains committed to continuing PCS's intense focus on customer service while not breaking stride in his critical work leading strategic initiatives that will further our work in connecting our campus with goods and services with the best possible value.
