Banner/Oracle Reports Clarification

Banner Report Users,
A clarification.
Some Banner pages listed as 'Launch Forms' in column C attached, such as FWIBUDG, FWIGITD, FGITBAL, FZITRND, PWIFOAP, FGIBDST, FWIVNDH, PWIEMPL and PWIVERI, allow us to query real time data on screen.
No change planned for these and other Banner query pages/forms.
It is the PDF or spreadsheet report outputs, typically launched from a Banner page using the Tools menu with Either the 'Run' or 'Create Report or Spreadsheet' command that are deprecated.
The PDF files and spreadsheets with 'Report Titles' listed in column B attached must be re-written if still needed.
Notes:
1. The 'Export Data' Action on the Tools menu of many Banner pages is baseline functionality and will remain available allowing users to place queried data into a spreadsheet file.
1. Cognos reports currently run against Banner data warehouse that is updated nightly so result sets generally reflect yesterday's data. Information Services will make real time data available from Cognos reports where needed.
Hope that helps.
Sorry for any confusion.
Cheers

Subject: Banner/Oracle Reports Three Questions
Hello again Banner report users:
As promised, attached you will find a list of all Banner reports. Finance reports on the first tab, AR the second and Payroll the third.
Some reports are marked obsolete because they haven't been run in the past year.
Most reports are still needed and will be re-written over the course of the coming year using IBM Cognos.
Some Banner Finance reports such as Indexes, Account Hierarchy, Budget Status and Transaction Detail already have Cognos equivalents and will be marked obsolete.
We expect most reports will run fine from Cognos instead of Banner using the same parameter choices and formatted to look similar.
Of course, those among us who are not already Cognos users will want to register for training in the coming months to ease the transition.
Information Services is testing the ability to launch a Cognos report from Banner for situations where the Banner context is critical.
Information Services is also preparing a new live view of Banner data for Cognos reports that require up to the minute data.
Three questions for you:
1. Is there any report that must be run from Banner instead of from Cognos ? Why is the Banner context critical ?
2. Is there any report you run from Banner where real time data is critical ? Or would the same Cognos report be adequate if it reflected yesterday's Banner data ?
3. Would you like to participate in a Banner report virtual meeting to discuss this transition, ask questions and share suggestions with your colleagues ?
Please respond to me directly to identify reports that must be run from Banner, or must have real time data, and/or to receive an invitation to discuss this transition.
Thanks in advance.

Subject: Banner/Oracle Reports Retirement
Banner report users:
The Oracle Reports technology, used by developers at Information Services to publish reports that users can run from Banner pages, is being retired in about a year.
Reports in use and still needed will be re-written (with considerable effort) using a newer technology.
Oracle reports are run from FWIORPT and PWIORPT and many other Banner pages that have the "Create Report or Spreadsheet Option" under the Tools menu.
The "Create Report or Spreadsheet Option" may no longer be needed now that the Export Action has been added to the Tools menu on many Banner pages.
We will soon share a list of reports we feel are obsolete based either on lack of use or on the fact that alternatives exist such as the Banner Export Action or a substantially similar Cognos report.
We would appreciate your help understanding if and why any report marked "Obsolete" is still needed and should therefore be re-written.
We will also host a meeting of Oracle Report power users to discuss this transition, hear concerns, and answer any questions.
Thanks in advance.
